The Design
The number one concern in redesigning the floor plan was maintaining or increasing the stations emergency response time. The rooms were arranged carefully to ensure the quickest possible response time.

Energy efficiency and privacy were also of main concern. Insulation was added to previously uninsulated walls, low-e energy efficienct windows replaced old single pane metal framed windows and a new hvac system replaced a 30 year old unit. Four separate bedrooms replaced the dormitory configuration of the sleeping quarters. The addition of a womens bathroom accomodated the female staff and vistors.
